Case Study: Phopthum Sriwong — A World-Class Ball Striker With a Clear Vision: Committing to Youngstown State University

From day one, we knew Pao would be someone any program would be lucky to have.

But Pao wasn't just looking for any offer. He had a very specific academic goal: majoring in Industrial Engineering. That meant the search had to be precise and extremely selective. Not many Division I programs offer that major, so every conversation we had needed to be the right one.

We connected with a handful of strong schools, and while interest was high, the decision wouldn't be easy. Then we found the perfect fit.

One coach went above and beyond—showing genuine care, asking the right questions, and putting in real effort to understand who Pao is and what he wants. The connection was immediate. The values aligned. The vision matched.

From that point on, everything became clear: Pao belonged at Youngstown State University.

The opportunity is a win for both sides. Pao brings talent, discipline, and character that will elevate the program the moment he steps on campus. And Youngstown State offers the environment, academics, and coaching structure to take Pao to the next level—on the court and in the classroom.

We are incredibly excited for this next chapter. Pao is going to be a massive addition to the team, and we can't wait to see the impact he makes.
